01 / Story

From a bicycle route to a bag pattern.

Bike messenger Rob Honeycutt began sewing bags in San Francisco under the name Scumbags. Renamed Timbuk2, the company turned the three-panel messenger into an urban-carry signature and later added backpacks and travel bags.

1989
The first messenger bags are sewn in San Francisco.
1990
The company adopts the Timbuk2 name.
Today
Custom messenger production remains a distinct part of a mixed global range.
